When it comes to longevity in Silicon Valley, there aren’t many companies that survive for 33 years. One of the rare exceptions is LSI Corporation, the pioneering semiconductor company that Gallagher PR has represented for over two years leading to its recent acquisition by Avago. It remains to be seen what will remain standing after Avago decides which LSI business units to keep and which to part ways with. Case in point is Seagate’s acquisition of Avago/LSI’s flash products unit this week that sold for a tidy $450 million.
What’s remarkable is how long LSI maintained its independence after its founding in 1981. Gallagher PR is proud to have been an integral part of LSI’s corporate and product PR efforts that culminated in a $6.6 billion acquisition. It definitely marks the passing of an era. LSI is without a doubt in the pantheon of semiconductor giants that shaped multiple industries and left an indelible mark of innovation. Will we ever see the likes of such an industry stalwart with such lasting power ever again? It’s hard to imagine we ever will.
While the acquisition of LSI marks the passage of a remarkable era, Gallagher PR is at the forefront of another with the launch of CloudGenix, which is pioneering Software-Defined WANs. Brought on board a scant 30 days prior to taking the company out of stealth mode with a full blown launch, Gallagher PR established a groundswell of favorable support from a cross-section of the analyst community that paved the way to substantial industry coverage. Since launching on April 30, CloudGenix continues to enjoy “ripple effect” coverage from its launch announcement. It’s good to see that GPR lives up to our promise that “we eat deadlines for lunch.”
