It’s odd to think of “losing” a client of three years as the high water mark for Gallagher PR. Let me explain…

Semiconductor heavyweight LSI, a GPR client since 2012, was recently acquired for an eye-popping $6.6B by Avago. It’s tremendously gratifying that we had a significant hand in positioning the venerable company as a highly relevant provider of hyperscale data center, network processor and flash storage solutions.

My colleague Peter Davé has written about this concept of being “Crushed by Your Own Success.” Sometimes when you do your job well, a client engagement comes to a win-win end. Beyond the satisfaction of knowing we generated a critical mass of media and analyst coverage for LSI, and authored no less than 20 contributed thought leadership articles and white papers, we’ve been rewarded by steady interest from many other vendors.

To that end, we’re pumped to be working with SkySync that deals with the realities of cloud storage migration with respect to what Gartner categorizes as EFSS or Enterprise File Synchronization and Sharing. They’re a Gartner Cool Vendor and were recently mentioned quite favorably in a research note titled “How to Migrate File Shares, SaaS and ECM to EFSS.”

SkySync may be one of the best kept secrets in the market despite having amassed over 2,000 customers while attracting strategic partnerships with Box, Dropbox, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Citrix and more—with whom they share a wide range of joint customers. They solve one of the dirty little secrets affecting the adoption of cloud storage services: The harsh reality is that bridging tens to hundreds of millions of files distributed across disparate storage systems and geographies to the cloud is a lot harder than anticipated because individual files contain unique properties, metadata, versions and permissions. And accommodating these variables when moving data from or between on-premise and cloud storage services has proven to be an integration nightmare.

As a unique PR agency specializing in “SMACS”—security, mobile, analytics, cloud computing and semiconductors— we continue to see how intelligently planned and executed PR programs shape industry dialog. By combining strategic messaging consultation, highly creative media and analyst relations, and unparalleled content development on behalf of our clients, we’re looking forward to another banner year of talking “SMACS” in 2016.
